First Sentences- Answers!

In my last blog post, I listed some first sentences for you all to ponder and, potentially, identify. I have the titles for you now, just in case any of them sucked you in so much that you can’t wait to read the whole book!

Here are the lines again, with the books they are from.
1. Now that I have found the way to fly, which directions should I go into the night?
(MATCHED, by Ally Condie)

2. There’s always that one guy who gets a hold on you.
(THE CATASTROPHIC HISTORY OF YOU AND ME, by Jess Rothenberg

3. When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold.
(THE HUNGER GAMES, by Suzanne Collins)

4. We decided to play another trick on Carlos.
(CARLOS IS GONNA GET IT, by Kevin Emerson)

5. The early summer sky was the color of cat vomit.
(UGLIES, by Scott Westerfeld)

6. I don’t remember any of the true, important parts, but there’s this dream I have.
(THE REPLACEMENT, by Brenna Yovanoff)

7. They say that just before you die your whole life flashes before your eyes, but that’s not how it happened for me.
(BEFORE I FALL, by Lauren Oliver)

8. “Sir?” she repeats. “How soon do you want it to get there?”
(THIRTEEN REASONS WHY, by Jay Asher)

9. Dear Ed, In a sec you’ll hear a thunk.
(WHY WE BROKE UP, by Daniel Handler)

Which of the sentences really made you want to keep reading? Number 3 really resonated with me. I could not stop reading until I found out who she expected to be there and why that person was gone.
